July 2005 : Taznakht, 80 km from Ouarzazate (Morocco)

I just finished praying at the graves of big Sadiqim and at the grave of my grandfather Ribi Chim’on Bouskila z”l who at the time was the Dayan, mohel, and shohet of the whole region.

My father, Ribi Ya’aqov Bouskila z”t took the initiative of restoring this 600 year old cemetery. A great Tora figure hailing from Casablanca, he was known for this hakhnasat orhim, transforming his home into a place of study.

To my amazement, I discovered a cemetery that had endured very serious acts of vandalism.

The graves were vandalized – some even dug up, the marble coverings broken, the fence surrounding the cemetery and the double door entrance were heavily damaged.

At a smaller cemetery nearby, similar acts were committed to the fence and entrance.

Touched by the heartbreaking state of these two cemeteries, I decided to immediately take action and restore them.

Our mission : To restore the cemeteries.

June 2008 :

I thank Hashem for helping me restore this cemetery. On the 2nd of June 2008 an inauguration took place attended by e”H Ribi David Bouskila s”t – may G-d give him a long life -, by the Chief Ribbi of Marrakech – e”H Ribi David Kadoche s”t, by the governor of Ouarzazate, and a large attendance. Today, we have a scheduled hiloula at the cemetery every year.

To find out more information please contact me.

To visit, there is a guard present 24/7 and you can enjoy a comfortable facility (room and washrooms).

Finally, I would like to thank everyone who supported me generously by participating in this renovation that took three long years.

Big sadiqim rest in this 600 year old cemetery, including Aharon haCohen.

If you have family members buried in the cemetery of Taznakht and have information regarding the inscriptions on their graves, I would appreciate it if you would get in touch with me.

May this misva honour the memory of our ancestors.

J’ai visité le cimetière de Taznakht il y a de là 3 ans, les travaux venaient de commencer. C’est une très belle région, connue pour la culture du safran et la grande qualité des tisserands de tapis bérbère..
