Customs of Purim
25. We are very strict not to scatter salt in the house. This is because salt is covenant and a blessing as known, so when one scatters it, it is a sign for arguments to come. 26. When leaving the house to go to work or travel we place our hand on the mezuza and say “Beshem E-l Esé” (In the name of G-d, I am leaving). This is because this name of G-d “E-l” is from the Midat haRahamim (the attribute of mercy) and thus has much segula in it.

Customs of Berakhot

55. When smelling Rose Water we bless “Boré ‘Asé Besamim.” This is because whether squeezed or cooked Rose Water still contains the main smell, and thus its law is like the actual roses themselves. Brought in Vayomer Yishaq (Liqutim 62) Ribi Yishaq Bengoualid zt”l. 56. On the smell of Thé Na’ Na’ we say “Boré ‘Isbé Besamim.” The novelty is that even though Tea is worthy of being eaten, in this case it is brought for smelling and we thus say “Boré ‘Isbé…”.
